Production Scheduling

Here is how this works in practice. We build shoot schedules that turn the script and budget into a workable shooting plan. Our team breaks down the script, groups scenes by location and cast, sequences shoot days for efficiency, and produces a schedule that balances creative priorities against cost and practicality. In the Netherlands, scheduling is shaped by the Dutch film-industry collective labour agreement (the CAO).

Here is the breakdown. This sets working-hour, turnaround and break entitlements — we plan shoot days so they comply, since the schedule is both a logistical document and a labour-compliance record. The country's compact, exceptionally well-connected geography is a scheduling advantage: locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and the surrounding countryside can be grouped into a single efficient schedule with minimal relocation, and we exploit that to keep travel days to a minimum.

Here is the short of it. Weather is the central scheduling variable in the Netherlands. The temperate maritime climate is mild but frequently wet and windy, so we schedule with cover sets and backup built in, sequencing weather-sensitive exteriors against interior fallbacks so a rained-out day is never a lost day. We plan around the soft, diffused 'Dutch light' that rewards early starts, factor in sunrise and sunset times that swing widely between summer and winter, and account for tides on coastal and Wadden Sea work.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Permit windows issued by cities, location-owner access conditions and any ILT clearances for drone work all constrain when filming can happen, and we align the schedule with them. The result is a realistic, resilient shooting schedule that protects the budget, respects crew entitlements and gives the production the best chance of capturing each scene as planned.
