waterfront
Utrecht's unique sunken canal wharves with restaurants and shops at water level, topped by bridges and street-level buildings. A visually distinctive location unlike any other Dutch city.
The tallest church tower in the Netherlands (112m) and the adjacent Domplein square, where the nave of the former cathedral once stood. Gothic grandeur with open sky.
UNESCO-listed De Stijl masterpiece by Gerrit Rietveld — the most pure expression of Dutch modernist design, with primary colours and movable interior planes.
Striking contemporary library at the Uithof campus by Wiel Arets — black perforated facade, sweeping interior balconies. Modern, photogenic academic backdrop.
Quiet medieval cloister garden beside the Dom Church — Gothic arches around a planted herb garden. One of the most tranquil and atmospheric corners in central Utrecht.
Recently restored medieval moat with parks, cycle paths, and small footbridges encircling the historic centre. A green water-ring around the old town.
Cultural quarter home to the Centraal Museum, Rietveld Schroder House (UNESCO), and the recently restored Catharijnesingel canal. A mix of historic and modernist Dutch design.
Multicultural neighbourhood near Centraal Station with the Kanaalstraat market street, diverse restaurants, and colourful street life. Authentic urban energy for contemporary productions.
Former industrial zone transformed into a creative district with converted factory spaces, photography studios, and the Vaartsche Rijn waterfront. Emerging filming location with flexible, spacious venues.
Modern university campus with bold contemporary architecture, the UMC hospital, and Rietveld-influenced design buildings. Useful for sci-fi, academic, and corporate scenes.
