Here is how this works in practice. We plan gear packages that match each production's creative and tech needs while keeping logistics efficient. Our team works from the shooting script and schedule to specify camera, lens, lighting, grip, sound and support gear, then sources it from set up rental houses in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht. Because the Netherlands is in the EU single market, gear brought in from elsewhere in Europe moves freely without ATA Carnet or customs friction — only kit arriving from outside the EU needs carnet clearance through Dutch Customs (Douane), and we manage that where needed.

Here is the breakdown. We set up delivery windows, on-set tech support and returns around the call sheet, and we account for the practical realities of Dutch locations. This includes tight car access in historic city centres and canal-side setups that constrain truck positioning.

Here is the short of it. Gear planning in the Netherlands also has to respect the climate and the regulatory environment. The temperate maritime weather is mild but frequently wet and windy, so we plan weather protection for cameras and lighting, wind-rated rigging for exposed polder and coastal work, and trusted power for changeable exterior conditions. Wireless gear — radio mics, video links, comms — operates on RF range covered by the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (the RDI), and we make sure frequency use is compliant.

For aerial work, drone operations fall under EU and EASA rules run by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (the ILT). This affects gear and crew planning. By aligning the gear package with the locations, the weather and the rules from the outset, we keep the shoot in tech smooth and free of avoidable delays.
