Here is how this works in practice. We connect shoots with LED wall facilities and virtual-production teams across the Netherlands. LED wall virtual production, also called in-camera visual effects, uses large LED display volumes to project real-time rendered environments behind performers, replacing green screen with photorealistic in-camera backgrounds and casting accurate light and reflections onto talent. The country has built genuine ICVFX skill: Studio Aalsmeer gives large-scale stages used by major shoots, The country Film Studios in Haarlem operates many stages, and IJsbaanpad Studios in Amsterdam rounds out the country's virtual-production-capable facilities.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Our team sets up stage booking, virtual art department resources, Unreal Engine environment builds and camera tracking. Dutch crews are near-universally fluent in English — the country ranks first worldwide for English proficiency — and the workforce, trained in part through the Netherlands Film Academy, brings strong real-time and post-prod skills to virtual production.

Here is the short of it. Virtual production lets a Dutch shoot build any environment without leaving the stage — from real local settings such as the Amsterdam canal ring, the Kinderdijk windmills, the Wadden Islands and the tulip fields, recreated through photogrammetry of the real sites, to sci-fi worlds and historical periods designed from scratch. This is valuable in the Netherlands, where the temperate maritime climate makes exterior schedules unpredictable and heritage filming in the canal ring is tightly covered by the cities. Amsterdam is the country's post-prod centre.

Here is how the picture comes together. Houses such as Filmmore, Captcha, Storm Post Production and Ambassadors support virtual-production pipelines. The country Film Production Rebates — a 35% cash rebates on qualifying Dutch spend administered by the Netherlands Film Fund (Nederlands Filmfonds), with support from the Netherlands Film Commission — applies to eligible stage and post work. Virtual production demands major pre-production to build digital assets. Our team starts environment development early so creative decisions can iterate before the shoot.
