The country's distinctive flat, even northern light, the quality that shaped the work of Vermeer and Rembrandt, gives cinematographers a naturally soft key across long stretches of the day, while the temperate maritime climate brings changeable, fast-moving skies that a seasoned local DP knows how to read.

Productions from 'A Bridge Too Far' in Arnhem to Paul Verhoeven's 'Black Book' and 'The Fault in Our Stars' in Amsterdam have leaned on Dutch camera departments who know how the 17th-century canal ring, Rotterdam's today's skyline and the open dike landscapes photograph. Filming permits run through the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, and our DPs work fluently within those frameworks.
